Hard Chrome Plating with Chromal Plating Company provides any machined or formed parts with an extremely dense and wear resistant surface. This allows for an excellent protective coating on hydraulic or pneumatic parts, shafts, and gears. When used on solenoids, shafts, cams, gears, threads, and other component surfaces, hard chrome plating reduces wear, friction, and corrosion.
By supplying corrosion protection, offering wear resistance, and reducing torque reduction, hard chrome plating with Chromal improves the durability of any machined or formed parts and offers a 5x to 10x increase in wear life.
Hard Chrome Plating is:
- Deposited at the rate of .0005" / .001" per hour
- Done to any desired thickness .00005" to .100"
- Coated to offer a low coefficient of friction and will not gall
As “hard chrome specialists” we welcome challenges-we love to problem solve! Chromal Plating special tooling, plating techniques and frozen process were developed by partnering with our customer to offer an optimal solution.

Hard Chrome on Aluminum: Our Proprietary Process
Chromal Plating’s hard chrome on aluminum is deposited directly on aluminum without the use of a substrate, thereby obtaining a bond to the aluminum as good or better than the aluminum has to itself. This enables the plate to be ground, honed or lapped to any finish desired. The chrome will withstand any temperature that the aluminum will withstand.
Aircraft, Military, and Commercial customers have been relying on this proprietary process for their components for over 50 years.
